Salome

There's always a melachonly side to theatre.

After the thrill of performance, the heat of the light, the heaviness of the makeup; After the heedy moment of after-europhic numbness has faded away, after the random recitation of lines disappear, you are left feeling so empty, as though there was something you ought to do and didn't, the abandonment of an old lover down the streets, watching you silently as you resume your banal mundanity of life. And sometimes they watch me from the corner of their eyes, laughing at me: Salome who is blood-clad, Mistress who is insidious in her red, Amy hugging her bear.

Anyways, thank you to Sharon who recruited me to take part in this brilliant production, all the props people, onyee, philana (Who became my slave on stage. Theatre! What else can i say?) who also fuss endlessly over my costume, which i still hate, Natalie my mama and Yu Neng my creepy papa, Seetoh the goofy Iokannan, who, unknown to everyone, attempts to reflect light behind the screen when not reciting his lines, using the sword used later to kill him, Sharon Lee my Sable, aka slave one, and of course, my dear friends mastura and vanessa, who popped by suddenly without warning to watch me in my moment of insanity. I had a fantastic time.
